I love it when narratives write themselves. It makes my job much easier as a purveyor of basketball insight (insight which often varies from not insightful at all to downright untruthful). And the narrative for this performance is this: Kay Felder just totally had a revenge game against the Cavaliers. You see, he used to be on the Cavaliers, but then they traded him to the Hawks because they hated how good he was. Then the Hawks cut him because they’re tanking and didn’t want too much talent on the team. Now Felder matched up against his former team who he holds a serious grudge against, and guess what? He scored thirteen points in one half of basketball, against LeBron James, Kevin Love, and all his former teammates whom he now absolutely despises, with the aim of making them regret ever getting rid of him.
You can totally tell that Tyronn Lue was in absolute shock over this unprecedented scoring outburst from his former player. His expression during the entire game was one of “I can’t believe we let this young stud midget go for nothing, what a fool I have been, enamored with my own hubris. If Felder scores forty in this game, I deserve no less a punishment.”
Then Felder only scored 13, but that was definitely enough to count as “revenge”.
