My perception of Spencer “Din-Dins” Dinwiddie is significantly skewed by the fact that I only pay attention to him when he has good games, and if he has a bad game I don’t even realize it happened. Case in point: I thought Din-Dins was having a breakout season, and I suppose he sort of is, but aside from the two video-worthy performances he had this season, his other games were lackluster: lines of 2/4, 5/5, and 6/4 aren’t exactly stats that the best backup point guard in the league would put up.
That’s right. I was getting way ahead of myself and preparing to declare Din-Dins to be the best backup PG in the league. I’m still getting used to where all the point guards ended up after the “Great Point Guard Shift of 2017”, so I was probably way off base, even when you ignore the fact that I was way too hyped for Din-Dins. From now on I promise to temper my hype for him. Even if he does check all the boxes that should be checked for a point guard: shoots, passes, slashes, has a goatee, is clutch, is tall, has a cool name, probably can dunk.
