Rondae Hollis-Jefferson has quickly jumped to the top of my personal “most annoying NBA players to make highlights of” list. Players who appear on the list often shoot too many free throws, make too many layups (“LAMEups”), and are too unpopular to drive view counts by themselves. Players on the list get bonus annoying points for playing better or worse than my expectations for them, and for possessing a high “un-highlightable” index, which is a number I generate with a custom algorithm.
So, not only did RHJ shoot way, way too many free throws in this game (he went nine of eleven and he did that weird shimmy before each and every one of them), but he made too many LAMEups as well, and he’s still playing way better than I thought he was capable of. Frankly, RHJ is the bane of my existence right now and I resent every second I have to spend making highlight videos for him. If you read a headline in your local newspaper that reads “Local Highlight Maker Goes Off Deep End,” you can bet on two things: 1.) the highlight maker in question is me, and 2.) it’s because RHJ had a 26-point game but he only made three shots and shot twenty free throws.
