The Pistons, expectedly or unexpectedly, are winning a bunch of games right now. For me, I’m going to go with “unexpectedly”, because I figured they were gonna be the same kinda-okay 8th seed that they always are. I don’t know the reasons for their sudden improvement, but I do know that it sucks for Luke Kennard.
If the Pistons were their usual mediocre selves, Kennard would be getting a lot more chances right now. But there aren’t many minutes to be had for a no-defense rookie on a team this good. They have no need to try and establish him, so they aren’t. And that’s that. The same thing is happening to Henry Ellenson and Boban Marjanovic. It’s no coincidence that these are three players in Detroit that I was most hyped for, and now I have to deal with Avery Bradley and Reggie Jackson.
If only there was a league just chock-full of players like Kennard and Ellenson. Whole teams of players like that playing against each other in a professional environment. Oh well. Can’t have everything.
