The pattern in the past few games makes my hunch into something more than a hunch. It makes it into a certainty. The certainty is this: Rudy Gobert was STUNTING Derrick Favors on the Jazz. Not only was Gobert STUNTING Favors, but Gobert was RUINING Favors’ CAREER. There can only be one course of action.
Derrick Favors must be traded to a team with a center that can space the floor by shooting threes. Only then will he be able to properly flourish and retake his title of being a top ten young power forward in the league.
You could ask, “why not trade Rudy Gobert instead and re-establish Favors as the franchise cornerstone?” That’s a good question, but it has an easy answer. Gobert is straight up better and more important to the Jazz than Favors. Thus, Favors has to be traded. I can come up with multiple trade scenarios involving Favors that would be beneficial for both teams. For example, the Bucks could use some bigs who don’t suck. We could totally give the Jazz Jason Terry so Terry can teach Rubio how to shoot threes. This is just one of multiple scenarios that make so much sense that it really makes you wonder why I’m not a GM or at least an assistant GM for an NBA team.
