In a previous Khris Middleton video I had debuted my new proprietary advanced stat which totally revolutionized the statistical nerddom landscape, a stat that clearly separated good players from bad ones. It was actually more of a list than a stat, but I still think it’s pretty accurate. I have now updated my stat for tonight’s games:
Players in the NBA who have multiple 40-point games this season:
James Harden
Giannis Antetokounmpo
Khris Middleton
****Aaron Gordon***** NEW ENTRY
Players who don’t:
Everyone else
Jonas Jerebko
Look at that first list. See any bad players there? Nope. Only four really good players. Four of the best in the NBA, I would say. Even heavyweights in the stat scene like PER and Win Shares have anomalies where scrubby role-players are shown to have great value. Not so here.
Aaron Gordon scoring 40 tonight is a sure sign that he ascended in Orlando to “man” status. He is the man now. No question. Nikola Vucevic had a 40-point game as well, but does he have two? No he doesn’t. Because he isn’t the man. Gordon is the man.
