This video contains a rare treat for diehard Rondae Hollis-Jefferson fans (to go with the nothing for dieheard Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson fans, but I promise I’ll start making his D-League highlights real soon): two whole three-pointers! Wow! His 10th and 11th of the season, and I’m gonna be honest, they looked really horrible. But they went in, and that’s all that matters, except it isn’t, because when evaluating the quality of players we don’t look at individual shots but at the whole picture.
Hollis-Jefferson can’t make any of the things he does on offense look good, so it makes perfect sense that the threes look bad as well. He’s smoothed out a little bit since his spastic rookie season, but only a little bit. He’s gonna spend his whole career as an “unorthodox” player, and there’s not much to be done about it. He could try and rework his shooting form, but to what end? So he can join the three-bandwagon? No thanks.
