Dejounte Murray: best rebounding guard in the league? Russell Westbrook doesn’t count because he’s a statpadder and everyone knows it. Murray might be a statpadder, but even if he is, no one but Spurs fans would be aware. So he wins. He is the best rebounding guard in the league. If he could shoot the ball, he would be a great starting point guard, instead of just an okay-ish one. Either way, I’m cursing the fact that the Spurs, AGAIN, found a gem in the later part of the first round of the draft. It’s not fair. It’s just. Not. Fair.
There was a lot of sentimentality when Tony Parker officially gave up his long-held starter’s job to Murray. Parker’s been the PG for a long time in San Antonio, I think most people are aware of that, and he’s still totally playable. It was a nice gesture for him to take a back seat and let a younger player who is still able to jump and run and stuff take the reigns. If I had emotions, I would definitely be feeling them right now.
So, in his second start of this new era, Murray took advantage of the currently-imploding Cavaliers feat. LeBlame Everbodyexceptmyselfames and put up a gnarly 19-point, 10-rebound, 7-steal performance. On national TV, where everyone could see how good he looked. Even the commentators were impressed, when they took the time to actually acknowledge the game instead of just talking about whatever random stuff they wanted to talk about.
