Lance “Sorry Tommy” Stephenson just set a season-high in both points and assists in this game, helping the Pacers surge back from a huge deficit to steal a win from the Magic. The Magic might be total sewer trash, but this was still a gritty performance from a team that maybe lost some of its grit when they got rid of Kevin Seraphin (that’s a joke, get it, because Seraphin was like the softest dude ever).
So this was a good game for Stephenson, maybe you could even consider it “vintage” Stephenson, as it was vaguely reminiscent of the games he was putting up that year he was kinda almost an All-Star a little bit. But if the Pacers want more of this from him, they’re gonna have to start letting him be the man again. He was basically the man on a team that had Paul George on it, you’re telling me he can’t be the man on a team with Victor Oladipo on it instead? Let’s count up the number of triple-doubles Oladipo has compared to Stephenson. It’s not going to be pretty.
