Mo Bamba 13 Points Magic Debut Full Highlights (10/17/2018)

Description pending (ETA: when I finish getting some Chick Fil A)

Alright, I’m typing this while eating Chick Fil A so if there are typos blame the zesty buffalo sauce I slathered all over my sandwich/fries/face. Also it’s gonna be a short one because everything is happening all at once right now.

This is the REAL opening night of the season. The NBA teases us with two “marquee” matchups on the first night, but we all know what we really want (what we really really want). We want bad/mediocre teams giving big minutes to wholly unproven players right off the bat. We want rookies getting thrust into game action before they even realize that this isn’t college anymore. And that’s what tonight offers. I’m pretty sure the Hawks are already tanking.

This performance by Mohamed Bamba reminds me of a certain other Magic then-rookie’s first performance. Do you know who I’m thinking of? That’s right! Aaron Gordon! Gordon’s first game with the Magic showed some of the potential that he eventually fully realized, which means that four years from now Bamba is going to be David Robinson 0.8.

The main thing he did tonight was dunk. Dunking is good. Dunking is sustainable. There is always a place in the NBA for bigmen who just dunk all the time. But, BUT, he also hit a three. Good? Yes. Sustainable? Eh.

But I’ll take it.
