Trae Young 20 Points/9 Assists Full Highlights (10/19/2018)

Trae Young’s chemistry with Miles Plumlee is looking good already. For all of Plumlee’s supposed “faults”, the one thing he can do is jam lobs. They don’t even have to be good passes. Just through them up there and he’ll jam them. If Young wants free assists basically any time he wants, that’s something he should look into.

The rest of Young’s game is looking good as well, at least it looked good tonight, but I’m really only interested in his game as it pertains to Miles Plumlee.

Plumlee was developing a bit of a midrange jumper near the end of his time in Milwaukee. Maybe Young could exploit unsuspecting teams by doing pick-and-pops with Plumlee for endless midrange devastation like Rubio and Towns once did? I’m thinking it can’t really hurt. That’s the kind of play you can spam over and over again, and if it doesn’t quite work out for the jumper you can always lob it up there and see if he can dunk it from some crazy angle.

So we’ve got the assists part of the equation covered, but the rebounds are going to be harder for Young. He’s pretty short, while Plumlee is really tall and also bouncy. Unless Young tells him specifically not to grab rebounds so that he can grab them instead, Plumlee is gonna dominate the boards. And that’s what you want. You don’t want Young crashing the glass every time. He’d die. Plumlee is way better at that.

Also Plumlee should shoot some threes because if this oddly-haired midget can do it, I don’t see why a supremely handsome adonis like Plumlee can’t do it too.
