It’s only three games into the season, but the Warriors are looking really beatable. At this point, they’ve earned the right to coast in the regular season, but it’s not like they want to lose. They want to win, every pro athlete does. And they couldn’t do it. Because the Denver Nuggets were too good.
The Nuggets have to be making the playoffs this year, right? It was weird that they didn’t make it last year, pushed out on the last day of the regular season, but they’re looking sharp so far. Good on defense, good on offense, with Nikola Jokic leading the way. Prior to tonight, he was leading the league in basically every advanced stat (none of the unadvanced ones though), including both offensive AND defensive rating.
I don’t know what those ratings mean, but looking at lists of the top ones from last year they seem to indicate proficiency of some sort.
Jokic wasn’t as amazing as last night, but he set a very high bar there so I don’t blame him. This was just another average Jokic game, a good amount of points, some rebounds, and a couple real assists mixed in with a bunch of handoff assists. Honestly, if I stopped including those, would anyone care? They don’t make the highlight videos better by their inclusion, and I don’t like wasting time with clips that just make things worse.
