I think it’s time for a reboot of my as-yet-unproduced TV show, “Jared Dudley’s Cornrows A-No-No”. The idea of the show is that Jared Dudley, who once had really bad cornrows but managed to get rid of them because of his deep inner strength, stages interventions with NBA players who have really bad cornrows. He acts as the voice of experience, the voice that has overcome adversity, and he shows the players pictures of themselves with the cornrows photoshopped off so that they realize the error of their ways and start crying in front of the cameras. He then gives them a fatherly hug and takes them to a barber, then the shot cuts to the player walking out of the barber an un-cornrowed man with a big smile.
T.J. Warren needs to appear on this show. Badly. He would be receptive to listening to Dudley as they were teammates a few years ago (I’m pretty sure; my Suns role-player timelines are all messed up). I don’t know what demon got into his head that told him he needed to make his hair look like that, but it needs to be exorcized.
Questionable coiffures aside, tonight Warren did what he always does, which is get a bunch of points without free throws. There were two changes, though. One, he hit three triples. Two, he came off the bench.
I disagree with Kokoskov’s decision to bring Warren off the bench, but as long as he keeps getting buckets, I can live with it. The decision to have him shoot threes, on the other hand, is always welcome. That means more points, and thus more highlights, for Warren, one of my favorite (no sarcasm, I love this dude) players in the league. He’s just so damn good at making shots, one more type of shot that he can make only makes things better. Maybe he can add a skyhook next?
