Bryn Forbes is currently the third-leading scorer on the Spurs. By definition, that makes him the third option, right? I believe it does. And, if we look critically at the roster, there’s no real clear-cut third guy after DeRozan and Aldridge. Pau Gasol? Too old. Rudy Gay? Too old. Marco Belinelli? Too old. Patty Mills? Yeah, we’re going with “too old” on this one. Bryn Forbes is basically the only guy on the roster who isn’t too old.
Well, him and Davis Bertans. But if you’ll remember, Bertans has no ACL’s, which makes him an honorary old person. So we’re left with just Forbes in the “young up-and-coming talent” group.
Will Forbes continue to average 15 PPG on 47/47/80 shooting splits? I would guess not, but I’ve been wrong before. If he cements himself as the third option on offense, that there’s no reason he couldn’t keep up those scoring numbers, even if I don’t expect his efficiency to remain so…efficient. All I know is, this is OFFICIALLY the last time I make a highlight video of him scoring 16 points. From now on, he has to score at least 17. That is my OFFICIAL new rule.
