Deandre Ayton went 12 of 13 tonight. The rest of his teammates? 4 of 75. That’s not a typo. That’s really what they shot. The Suns ended up scoring 34 points and Ayton had 24 of them. I’ve said this before, but it bears repeating in light of recent events (this game): he needs to demand the ball every possession and do all the work on offense. Not just most of the possessions. All of the possessions.
Once Devin Booker comes back, he can have a few. I’ll also let Josh Jackson have 1 per game as a reward for cutting off that hair. Ryan Anderson gets negative possessions. I haven’t figured out how that’s gonna work yet, but I will.
Aside from his hyper-efficient scoring, peep those assist numbers. Unlike previous times when Ayton had a good amount of assists, this time he had a good amount of good assists, not bad assists. He was hitting back-door cutters like prime Jokic out there. Guess he learned some tricks while that guy was putting up a perfect-shooting triple double on his rookie booty.
