Welcome back Patrick “Tupat” Patterson! Last time I made a vid for him was during the 2015(!) playoffs, where he scored 15. For regular-season Tupat action you have to go back to frickin’ 2014. Those dates give you an idea of how long he’s been a poor offensive player. He was good, or at least passable, for a brief moment in time a few years ago, I seem to remember his plus-minus stats being ridiculous one year, but that time is long gone. He’s still in the league, so I’ll give him credit for that, but I’m not giving him credit for anything else.
I just looked at his stats and I can’t believe he played all 82 last year. His season-high was 14. His intangibles must still be good, because he certainly wasn’t doing anything that showed up in the stats.
Most people probably don’t realize he’s even still in the league, much less in the league and playing every game. I admit, he kind of drifted away from my ever-present scrub-seeking gaze, just because I knew he would never do anything. Even tonight, I almost missed this performance because I’m so used to just skipping over his name in the boxscore.
