I bet if you compiled a list of all the starting centers for the Knicks in the last ten years it would be a really funny list. Good names would be on it like Tyson Chandler (unless that was longer than ten years ago, all sense of time has long departed), plus some funny ones like Cole Aldrich and Jerome Jordan.
You can now add Mitchell Robinson to that list. The guy who decided that the whole “college” thing wasn’t really for him and instead chilled out and practiced on his own time for a whole year. Sounds like something I’d do, honestly. Who wants to even pretend to go to classes when you could cram a couple of Four Lokos then go to the gym and do windmill dunks for two hours? The decision seems obvious.
All that practice paid off, because he’s dunking it really good in the NBA. He jumps high, he has long arms, it’s the perfect storm for devastating smashers. His matchup on the opposing team, Jarrett Allen, might be a good comp for him. Raw, but lengthy and willing to dunk at all times.
