Early returns on this season are that Dwyane Wade can shoot threes now. That’s good news now that he’s not as athletic as he once was; drives to the basket are both harder to accomplish and more hazardous to his health once he gets near the rim. Wade has always been a poor three-point shooter (perhaps one of the last star SG’s we’ll ever see who doesn’t have the three in his arsenal), so he definitely picked the right time to decide to work on that part of his game.
Another early return on this season is that the Heat are just a loss-prone collection of overpaid role-players and that Wade, somehow, is still a guy that the Heat count on for a lot of their offense. I don’t know if he’s still better than Waiters at this point (it doesn’t take much to be better than that guy), but Waiters isn’t coming back any time soon, so it looks like Wade will be getting significant off-the-bench minutes for the foreseeable future. I hope he’s got those ‘roid needles lined up and ready to inject into his heinie.
