This is the Brook Lopez I want to see. The kind that shoots a bunch of threes but ALSO goes into the post to do some things. His three-point shooting is great for the memes or whatever, but the fact remains that he’s a huge dude who is hard to stop in the paint. In the paint, or going to the paint from the three-point line, taking several lumbering steps before sweeping his arms out and shooting a half-runner/jumper thingie. That’s hard to stop too. Basically, he’s unstoppable. The only thing stopping him is his willingness to be a good teammate and not monopolize the ball.
It’s a shame he didn’t get into the three-point contest, though. I would have way more fun seeing him there than Khris Middleton. Who cares if his release is way too slow and he’d only get half the shots up? All-Star weekend is supposed to be about fun, and I love Khash Money Deuces, don’t get me wrong, but he’s not as fun when it comes to shooting triples as Lopez. Perhaps the NBA needs to add a second novelty three-point shootout where meme players like Lopez and Bruno Caboclo can come in and shoot threes. Invite Kevin Hart as well, and see if he wins again like he did a few years ago against Draymond Green.
