I was on the fence about doing this video, and it’s a good thing I got off on the right side of the fence, because this is a surprisingly sick highlights package. Why didn’t Pistons fans tell me that Ish Smith had such an exciting performance? He was igniting the crowd (and the Timberwolves) every time he touched the ball it seemed like. And you guys almost missed out on seeing it because people in Detroit didn’t let me know what was going on.
I can forgive them, I guess. They’re so delirious with happiness at having a team that can win some games that they’re not thinking clearly. No one tell them that their low playoff seed will only mean yet another stomping in the first round of playoffs; that would just upset them.
The stomping will be less if Smith can do this kind of thing every game. Right now, it’s more of a sometimes thing for him. I don’t know what it would take for him to develop some consistency at this late stage of his career (he’s only 30 but has been on approximately 18.5 teams in his career), but we could start with him getting all the starter’s minutes over Reggie Jackson. Jackson has been playing well too, but since when has he ever had a highlight video as compelling as this one?
