Anfernee Simons 17 Points Full Highlights (11/13/2019)

Am I being a dumb-dumb, or is Anfernee Simons just a younger, lower-minutes version of C.J. McCollum? Oh yeah, I forgot an adjective: better. This season, at least through twelve games, Simons is a younger, lower-minutes, BETTER version of McCollum. At least, that’s what it seems to me. But I don’t watch many Blazers games so I have no way of knowing other than by making highlight videos and scouring basketball-reference for statistical clues.

One of the main similarities is this: Simons is comfortable hunting for that midrange jumper. He shoots many more threes than midrangers, but as far as I’m concerned, he could be more midrange-minded. Think Collin Sexton from last year, but actually good.

The other similarity is that they’re both somewhat short for shooting guards, but neither can be played at the PG position. Some people would have you believe that 6’3″ is a perfectly fine height for a shooting guard, but they’re wrong. 6’3″ is officially manlet status when it comes to shooting guards.

Is Simons making McCollum redundant on the Blazers’ roster? Not yet. But he could in the future. The Blazers just committed HARD to McCollum (something like 150 million over five years) but if the young up-and-comer Simons proves to be more valuable, McCollum could be on the move. Can you trade players to China? McCollum would literally average 100 PPG over there.
