How unfair is it that Kelly Oubre and Ricky Rubio are on the same team? Not only are they both skilled basketball players who most fans would want on their team, but they might be the most attractive teammate duo in the league.
I was struck by this when I saw Oubre smiling at Rubio and going in for the high-five after Rubio found him on a nice alley-oop reverse layup. When I saw that smile and that eye contact, I felt a a flutter in my heart. And it wasn’t my heart palpatations, either. Those usually cause me to pass out. This one, when their eyes locked, the sizzling bromance was almost too much for me to take. I felt a wave of jealousy, and then, I felt…something else. I’m not going to tell you what I felt. But it felt good. Guiltily good.
Looking at the matter objectively, if you had to break up the Oubrio pairing due to to the total unfairness of their combined attractiveness, it would be Oubre going out the door first. Rubio is the kind of player that controls the destiny of a team. Oubre is more replaceable than that, at least in terms of scoring ability (not in terms of having a perfect face). However, the Suns should look at keeping this duo forever so that they can intimidate opposing teams with their outrageous good looks. “Guaranteed championships” is a stretch, but “Guaranteed MATD awards” isn’t.
That stands for “Most Attractive Teammate Duo”, by the way.
