Jarrett Allen 21 Points Full Highlights (12/11/2019)

The “Jarrett Allen Shooting Threes” experiment was fun (as long as you can find fun in bricked jumpers), but it looks like it’s over now. It started off with 2-for-3 explosion in the season opener last year, and at peak experimental intensity, Allen was shooting a three once a game, just about. It started tailing off at the end of last season, and now he’s only taken 1 three for the whole season. He missed it.

And I just checked it out, because I was curious, and man, he shot that thing with confidence. It was like an elbow pick-and-roll with Joe Harris but instead of rolling to the rim (like he should be doing every time), he retreated back to the corner, received the pass, and let it fly. It wasn’t the worst miss I’ve ever seen, I’ll give him that. It totally hit rim.

As already stated, Allen is really better off just hanging around the rim so he can dunk it. It was cool to try and turn him into a stretch five, but I just wasn’t seeing the utility. Why would you put your super-tall offensive-rebound machine out on the perimeter so he can sometimes maybe make a three? It doesn’t make sense. He can get way more points just by being active on putbacks.
