According to the Zlies’ commentators, who one would assume would be knowledgeable about such things, claimed in this game that Brandon Clarke was making some noise in the Sixth Man of the Year award race.
Just to clear things up: no such noise is being produced by Clarke, or by anyone else, except for Grizzlies homers. At most, at absolute most, people are saying “oh yeah that Clarke guy, he’s pretty good for a rookie coming off the bench”. But even that’s being generous, because I am detecting very little in the way of national coverage for this dude.
And that’s fine. I’ll be over here riding this hype train mostly by myself. Note: Grizzlies fans are not allowed on the hype trains of Grizzlies players. That’s just the rules of hype trains, sorry bros. You should be hyped by default for your players, no need to get on the train.
While I ride this hype train, I can’t help but think about how Clarke is probably something close to what the Bucks thought they were getting when they drafted D.J. Wilson. With each passing game making it more and more clear that Deej is not really much of an NBA player, I have to be content that I can squint my eyes while watching Memphis games and pretend that he is.
