I’m salty right now because this video was made under FALSE PRETENSES. I thought that Troy Brown Jr. had five assists in this game, and in fact the box-score still says at this moment that he has five assists, but he really only had four. The first TBJ assist depicted in this video is clearly not TBJ. It’s Shabazz Napier. It’s also not an assist because Rui Hachimura took too long to score after receiving the ball, but that’s a different issue entirely.
So now I’m in a foul mood because I was DECEIVED, but I’m going to try to be charitable towards TBJ since it’s not his fault that the scorekeepers don’t have functioning eyeballs and have to use sonar echolocation to figure out which players are doing which things on the court.
Like his similarly-initialed teammate Thomas Bryant, Troy Brown Jr. is taking full advantage of this wonky ‘Zards roster to put up some stats. He’s been solidly scoring in the double digits since the regular season resumed. He’s also racking up some major dimeage, assuming that all the dimes are attributed to the correct player in the box-score (nothing can be taken for granted anymore). Shooting 6-of-16 in this game is a little bit suspect, but those are the growing pains that young players experience when they get their first taste of freedom in the offense.
P.S. Where do I apply to become an official NBA scorekeeper?
