Check out some of the dudes who played for the Jazz tonight:
-Jarrell Brantley (the hero of this video, although I had no idea which spelling of “Jarrell” was going to be correct for him until I looked it up)
-Rayjon Tucker (already determined to be better than P.J. Tucker)
-Nigel Williams-Goss (British royalty is allowed to play in the NBA [note: Joel Freeland was not British royalty])
-Miye Oni (name looks like the kind of typo that happens when your fingers aren’t centered on the home row but you start typing anyway)
-Juwan Morgan (what happened to Jawun Evans)
-Justin Wright-Foreman (who is this)
That’s a full SIX players who most casual fans have never heard of. I had barely heard of them and I’m as far from a casual fan as you can get. Those six players combined for 136 minutes, over half of the 240 player-minutes that every team gets in a game as long as they maintain the “five men on the court” rule and don’t get embroiled in any overtimes.
This kind of crazy roster composition should happen more often. I would completely support teams in the lottery spending the entire months of March and April rapidly cycling through as many G-Leaguers as the league will allow. I also support the idea of swapping the entire roster of a team with that of their G-League affiliate. Is that allowed under the CBA?
