Man, I would have been ALL OVER the Arvydas Sabonis highlights if had any sort of mind to make them back in his playing times. I didn’t. And even if I did, I don’t think the investment into thousands of dollars of video editing would’ve paid off. And how I would I distribute the content? Set up a subscription service and send people VHS tapes containing highlights by mail? Rough.
I guess I’ll have to settle for Domantas Sabonis highlights instead. He’s pretty good for a rookie, but he has none of the Eastern European mystique around him that his dad had. On the plus side, though, both his knees are fully intact and ready to withstand the rigors of the NBA game.
The Domanator has been solid, but that’s all you can say about him. I can’t tell if playing with Russell Westbrook helps him or hurts him. Probably helps, since he doesn’t have to touch the ball unless he can immediately shoot it. Rookies struggle with stuff like dribbling and passing against quicker defenses than they’re used to. That hurts his free-throw numbers (he’s shot SIX in over 600 minutes played, which is late-career Luke Walton territory), but otherwise he gets to mostly stay in his comfort zone.
Speaking of comfort zones, time for a warm blanket, some hot chocolate, and all the Arvydas Sabonis highlights I can find.
