How do you know when a player is really good? When the opposing commentators can’t stop talking about him. Of course, the home commentators can never shut up about “potential this” and “upside that” and “blah blah blah hustle”, but the opposing broadcast crew has no bias towards any team except their own. They will give you a candid, unfiltered impression of the other team’s players. John Henson made a favorable impression on the OKC colormen, but how could he not, given that he scored a career high?
Unfortunately, commentators will also complain relentlessly about ref bias, make bad jokes, shout lame catchphrases, and wander away into tangents on other topics. That’s why I mute every game I watch and put on some music. Great music + great basketball = great times at DownToBuck’s place.
