Marcus Smart has had a rough couple of games when it comes to shooting the deep ball, but then again, he’s had a rough season (or even a rough career) shooting the deep ball, so the fact that he’s made five out of his last thirty three-pointers shouldn’t be surprising. He did get a haircut at some point, removing the tall blob of hair that was impeding his natural shooting motion, but so far the hair removal hasn’t paid dividends.
Thankfully, Smart still does all the good things that you expect from him on the court even if he can’t really shoot three-pointers. In this game alone he beat up six racist fans for saying racist things to him. While other players are afraid to get down and dirty and do the little things that help the team win, Smart is out there sacrificing his body and fists to make sure that no racist remarks are directed towards the players. I didn’t get a good look at any of these altercations but I’m pretty sure Donald Sterling was one of the recipients of Smart’s fists.
Smart also played defense probably and he also hit some post-up jumpshots. And he got fouled on two three-pointers. Why would you ever foul him on a three-pointer? He’s not gonna make it so there’s no reason to contest that heavily. This is where I smugly say “know your personnel” like I’m some kind of know-it-all basketball genius. Know your personnel.
