I think this does it. I think this is the game that propels Dario Saric from “ROY candidate” to “guy who is gonna be ROY unless something really messed up happens”. Congratulations 76ers fans. It looked pretty likely at the beginning of the season that one of your rookies would be ROY, and it’s going to happen. It wasn’t Embiid or Simmons, which is sad, but at least one of them managed to escape unscathed!
What better way to announce “I am the best rookie of them all!” then by making a bunch of three-pointers? This is a glimpse of a hypothetical future where Saric is a confident and talented sharpshooter from outside. But not just any glimpse. A TANTALIZING glimpse. Aren’t you tantalized? Aren’t you getting excited thinking about how easily Saric is gonna score 20 a game next year with his outside shooting?
Let’s hope he turns out better than the last 76er to win ROY, for all of our sakes. Although, even at this early stage in his career, he would have to regress pretty hard to end up at that level.
