Isaiah Whitehead has not been very good this year. Advanced stats, in particular, paint a very bad picture of him. I don’t think he’s as bad as those things say, but he hasn’t made the absolute most out of his (plentiful) minutes. He is managing to keep his head above water, though, not looking as beaten-down as many of his fellow rookies would if they got the playing time he does.
As you can see, I can’t tell whether to be pessimistic or optimistic about this dude. His case is a hard one to figure out. Obviously, he’s on the Nets, which means that his teammates aren’t helping him out very much. But, at the same time, he’s on the Nets, which means he gets to earn real NBA minutes and not pick up bad habits in the D-League. His 24 points tonight may put me on the side of “optimistic”. His threes were wet, his drives were strong, and his face still makes me want to punch him.
