There’s something wrong with the Hornets. The Bulls were/are totally imploding, yet the Hornets still lost. What’s the problem? More importantly, what’s the solution? I don’t know if one can figure out the solution without knowing the problem, but that’s a philosophical conundrum for another day. Right now we’re just gonna look at why the Hornets aren’t winning games.
Before tonight I would have said that it was because they weren’t playing Jeremy Lamb enough. That’s obviously not correct, though, because they played him a bunch in this game and still lost. If getting 26 unexpected points from Lamb (which is a CAREER HIGH) isn’t enough for a win, there must be other issues.
But maybe Lamb still has something to do with it. Maybe Lamb’s lack of playing time is a symptom of the real problem, which is inadequate coaching, a disorder which manifests itself in many ways. Like not winning any games. Or trading for Miles Plumlee. Or MKG’s jumper still being borked. All these things are symptoms of issues at the top of the organization.
Another theory: they just are really unclutch this year, but since clutchness is random it’s not their fault that they can’t close out games. Humph. Not as fun of an answer as the other theories.
