This performance by Will Barton seems really good, great even, until you realize that his closest NBA comparison, Corey Brewer, once scored 51 in a game. Then, you start to wonder why Barton hasn’t done the same, and the only conclusion you can come to is that Barton is a worse player than Brewer, who really sucks by the way. Logic can be ruthless sometimes; this is one of those times.
Try not to get too down. It is simply not given to everybody to be as good as Corey Brewer, who can barely get playing time on a tanking Lakers team.
If you can, try to watch these 35-point highlights for what they are: a great outside shooting display by Barton with some nice finishes mixed in. Do not watch them for what they aren’t: 51 points. You will only end up disappointed if you choose to focus on that. Focus on the three-pointers instead.
