This wasn’t actually a great game from Jason “Help I’m balding” Smith, who shot 6-of-15 from the field and doubtlessly prevented John Wall from getting even more assists than he already had. However, he did get the much-sought-after “scrub by five” by getting at least two of each main statistical category.
The Big Bald Spot had two blocks, two assists, and two steals, so he didn’t smash through the scrub by five wall, but he did finish the game sitting comfortably atop it. He also submitted three three-pointers to his statline, a shot that he’s become more comfortable with over the past few years. It’s cool that he wants to extend his range, but every three-pointer he takes is a lost opportunity to shoot a long two-pointer instead. I hope he understands this.
In fact, I think I’ll tweet this video to him so he realizes what he’s doing. Some of these NBA players have a severe lack of self-awareness that can only be corrected by having some YouTube NBA guy harass them on social media.
