Hell yeah! I am so hyped for Pat Connaughton right now. He spent almost two whole years doing nothing except being an excitable bench towel-waver, waiting for his opportunity to show the world that he’s more than a 96-mph fastball. Yes, I know you’re tired of hearing about how he plays (played?) baseball also. That’s the last time I’ll mention it. I swear.
Connaughton, truth be told, is having a way better year (even before this game) than his rookie campaign, though the sample sizes are pretty small. So it’s not like this is totally unexpected. I figured that if you gave him like 30 minutes, he’d probably score in double-digits or at least come close. Problem was, the Blazers really wanted to make the playoffs, and didn’t have a game to spare to test out this theory.
But now that Portland is has earned the right to get swept by the Warriors, they have a couple games to test out all their spare bench parts, Connaught-Four included. That’s what the end of the season is for, right? He played 34 minutes tonight, and my theory was proven to be valid without the slightest trace of doubt: he scored 15 points. 15 points that have me so hyped that I can’t really feel my legs right now, and one of my arms is just sort of spazzing out, doing its own thing. You know how hard it is to make vids with only one arm?
