Dennis Smith Jr. Career High 27 Points Full Highlights (10/28/2018)

Sacrifices were made to make this the purest representation possible of Dennis Smith Jr.’s career -high 27 points on 12 made shots. There were no free-throws to ruin it in the first place, so I decided to go all out: this vid is nothing but 12 sequentially ordered buckets, no replays, no assists, no defense (by him or by the Jazz). It’s a shame, because one of his blocks was pretty nice, but as I said, sacrifices. If you don’t like how I operate, I advise you to start your own highlight channel.

However good this game by him was (which was very), I feel like he is losing the adoration of Mavs fans slightly. Luka Doncic is the hot new thing and represents the bulk of the future of the franchise. Smith Jr. is good, but he hasn’t shown anything that screams “franchise cornerstone”. Neither has Doncic, but Smith had a year to do something other than dunk it really well and have some pretty good scoring games, and he didn’t do it.

Maybe I’m being too harsh, but I’m just not very high on this dude and I never have been. Performances like this on a semi-regular basis would do a lot to change my mind.
