One of the clearest warning signs of a coach who has no idea what’s going on is the random insertion and uninsertion of players into a lineup. Take Mirza Teletovic for example (you could also use Greg Monroe earlier in the season, or Rashad Vaughn, or Miles Plumlee). Jason Kidd didn’t play Mirza at all last game. Or the game before that. No particular reason, just needed to get Michael Beasley more minutes, I guess.
Then, tonight, he’s the first dude off the bench? Fresh legs or something. I don’t know. Kidd’s rotations are crazy right now.
I was begging for a Mirza deal at the trade deadline last season. I was pleased when they signed him outright. In my view, he’s the perfect fit for the Bucks; a guy who does not care at all about shot selection from downtown. He lets it fly whenever he feels like, doesn’t need to set his feet or be even facing the basket. Just lets it fly. His three-point attempts per 36 (before tonight’s game) are at a ludicrous 11.2, or about 1 every 3 minutes, higher than Stephen Curry but lower than Steve Novak.
Speaking of which, Milwaukee really needs to find Steve Novak more minutes. Maybe bench Telly again to make it happen?
