I don’t suppose we’ll ever know why exactly the Kings decided to “rest” Cousins, Gay, and McLemore for this game. It’s a little bit too early to tank so blatantly but anything is possible with the Kings organization. With two big-time scorers out and one small-time scorer out, this game afforded chances to players on the Kings roster who hadn’t been getting many chances. Garrett Temple was one of the benefactors, obviously, but end-of-bench scrubby-dubs like Malachi Richardson, Skal Labissiere and Anthony Tolliver benefitted from players at their respective positions being out.
The real funny thing is that Arron Afflalo got only seven minutes even with all the mysterious absences. That’s fewer minutes than Malachi got! If I had a dollar for every time the Kings made a high-profile signing that utterly failed less than halfway through the first season of the contract, I would have enough money to by an entire pallet of Toaster Strudels plus a new microwave to cook them all up in.
Another funny thing is that my last Garrett Temple video has less than 700 views. I thought that with 41k subs all my videos were guaranteed a thousand views but I guess not. Next time Temple has to score forty before I make a video. I’m serious as heck right now.
