This was it. This was the last real chance for the 76ers to win a game this year. They have now lost 14 in a row. There are a few games against bad teams still remaining on their schedule, but they don’t get to play the Magic or the Bucks again, the only two teams who are nearly as bad as they are. Their tank is truly unstoppable.
The Magic tank, while good, is not as impenetrable as the 76ers version. They didn’t make trade-deadline moves to clear themselves of talent. They just happen to not be very good, in a year where being not very good happens to be beneficial. When I look at their roster, though, it seems like an okay collection of players, maybe not playoff-caliber but better than this.
Who’s to blame? Jason Maxiell? Yeah, probably him.
Tobias Harris started off slow, but he has raised his level of play since getting to watch the All-Star weekend from the comfort of his own home. (Seriously if I were an NBA player I would be like “Skills challenge? No way I wanna stay at home and enjoy the company of my cats.) He’s actually started hitting a few threes and in general scoring pretty well. I would say that he has officially turned the corner, which marks the fourth time he has done so and thus has returned to where he started. Good work Tobes!
