Anderson “The Brazilian Bomber” Varejao’s rebounding numbers are way down this year. In 27 minutes per contest, he is grabbing five this year as opposed to almost ten last year. To what can we attribute this drop in rebounding output? A Samson-like hair disorder? Loss of athleticism? Bad shoes? No, it’s not any of those things. The real reason is:
The Cavaliers acquired known rebound-stealer Kevin Love. And Kevin Love is stealing all of Varejao’s rebounds.
To rectify this situation, the Cavs need to trade Andy for a rim-protector who doesn’t need to get a lot of rebounds, because Kevin Love will steal them all anyway. I suggest a Sanders-Varejao swap, but to make it work, the Cavs might need to throw in a little something extra. How about LeBron James? Sounds fair to me.
