Kostas Papanikolaou Career High 19 Points Full Highlights (11/19/2014)

“I’m gonna send a note over to Kevin McHale and want to know why he hasn’t played more.”

I don’t know, Hubie, I can’t imagine a single reason why Kostas Papanikolaou isn’t getting 30 minutes a game. Maybe it’s because he’s been shooting sub-30 percent on the season?

Can’t really blame the commentators for being clueless on the state of the NBA, or on the state of a relatively unknown Greek rookie; everyone knows that no one at ESPN actually watches sports. Especially if the teams aren’t currently successful or in a big market. Still, wouldn’t you do some prep work before the game so you could avoid quotes like the one above?

It seems like every time I look at a Rockets boxscore, Kostas has missed a bunch of shots, gotten a few assists, and done little else. Like a lot of Euro players it’s going to take some time before he finds NBA range. Meanwhile, he’s getting way more assists than his countryman and supposed point-forward Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The Rockets should try Kostas at point-forward as well. Beverley isn’t really a point guard, and neither is Harden. Why not give it a shot?
