At the time of this writing, Courtney Lee is one of the best players in the playoffs in terms of win-shares. By this measure, Only Jimmy Butler, Stephen Curry, Marcin Gortat, and Kawhi Leonard are more valuable to their team’s success.
This begs the question: why doesn’t anybody care about Courtney Lee? I’m fully aware that he rarely, if ever, puts up sick scoring performances, and that he doesn’t usually dunk, but there’s a lot of players who do neither of those things yet still manage to attract fans to them.
Courtney Lee’s relative anonymity is going to morph into blinding popularity once my new Twitter campaign goes into full effect: #payAttentionToCourtneyLee ! Right now I’m the only one tweeting it, but I’m not really sure how Twitter works so it’s probably already trending. Right?
