Was anyone else getting really excited for Meyers Leonard after the second quarter of last night’s game against Memphis? I was. The playoffs are where heroes are born and legends are written by hooded scribes.
I had visions of him being the savior that saved basketball in Portland. Down 3-0, backs against the wall, he rides in with his three-point cannon, averaging 25 points in the next four games to win the series, pushing out LaMarcus Aldridge and ushering in a new era. A Leonard era, marked by peace, prosperity, and triples.
That could still happen, I guess. He’s going to have to work a lot harder to average 25, though, after not scoring in the second half in this contest. The LaMarcus part is going to happen in any case, whether he gets forced out by Meyers being a beast or not. Hello Dallas!
