Since when do mediocre players just up and say that they’re going to be the starter or they’re going to find a different team. Moreover, since when do teams actually take those threats seriously and make said player a starter?
It’s like the old strategy of just walking into your boss’s office and demanding a raise. It can work, sometimes, since everyone likes a confident man, but it usually doesn’t.
Anyway, with the Hawks’ point guard role already solidly occupied by Jeff Teague, the only option for Dennis Schröder in this case was shooting guard. That’s cool. Double PG lineups can work, and the Hawks don’t have a super compelling option at that position anyway.
