With each game that passes, Karl Anthony-Towns looks more and more likely to win Rookie of the Year. Who else is even in consideration? Kristaps? That’s about it, unless you think that Justise Winslow’s defense is enough to propel him to victory. Here’s a hint: it’s not, because ROY is about counting stats and counting stats alone. No unquantifiables allowed.
So, at what point, since we have agreed that the Timberwolves have two consecutive ROY winners, do they start making some noise? Is it right now? I’m thinking it’s right now. They’ve looked pretty decent when I’ve seen them, a far cry from the Timberpuppies of last year. Even Zach LaVine is getting in on the action by not being horrible.
Karl may not be enough to lead them this season to the promised land (no not a championship, I meant playoffs you dummy even I’m not that optimistic). Next year, though, that 6th seed has their names written all over it, even on the underside where you can’t even see anything that may be written there.
