Stanley “Manly” Johnson was touted by Pistons fans as being an NBA-ready starting-material small forward. Has he lived up to the hype?
I’d say yes. Yeah, he may not actually be starting, but anyone who knows anything knows that only the elitest of rookie prospects are able to handle that task right away. Pistons fans, in the manner of all eager fanbases, got a little excited by what Stanley showed in the preseason. That’s okay. I know I was pretty much penciling in Rashad Vaughn for 10 points a game. Even a staid, somber fan like myself is guilty of getting hyped for my first-rounder.
And, what do you know, Stanley has now put together a whole TWO games that I would consider “good”. That’s more than a whole bunch of other dudes, rookies and veterans alike. The hype train will not be derailed!
