Wrong is such an ugly word. I prefer the term “intellectually open-minded”. “Wrong” has so many negative connotations.
Given his play to start the season, it looks like I was at least partially intellectually open-minded about DeMarre Carroll. I had basically no confidence that he would be any good at all once he left the Hawks’ pristine system. I feared a regression back to his Utah days, days when he was a low-minutes not-that-great role player instead of a high-minutes good-at-everything role player. I’m happy to get proven, uh, something.
However, his contract is still on the large size, he isn’t yet producing as efficiently as he did last year, and DeRozan is still a chucker, so things aren’t going as well as they could be in Toronto, and I still could be right about him not living up to expectations. I do not admit defeat so easily.
