The Pelicans are one of my favorite teams to watch right now. They’ve got a superstar (Anthony Davis), which of course always makes for a fun viewing experience, but then they have a huge collection of talent-deficient but lovable role-players (everyone else except Jrue Holiday). Basically any lineup the coach decides to trot out there, I’m going to find something enjoyable in it.
Especially if it contains Tim Frazier. Or Alexis Ajinca. But mainly Tim Frazier, who is a total boss this year. He has finally given up his starting role to Holiday, which is kind of sad. Sure, tonight he messed around and got a triple-double, but going forward, we’re not going to see insane performances from him as often as we were at the beginning of the season.
This particular triple-double wasn’t the most satisfying, as a majority of his assists went to three-point shooters instead of to Davis for lob dunks. And, he immediately turned over his 10th rebound so the commentators’ declaration of his achievement was a little muted. The ecstatic “YES!” after his last free throw almost makes up for it, but not quite.
