It doesn’t feel like it’s been that long, but Kenneth Faried has been in the league for six seasons now. I guess that means it’s time to accept that he won’t ever develop a jumper? He’s basically the same player now that he was as rookie, the only difference being that Nikola Jokic is throwing him lobs instead of Andre Miller.
Six years is a long time to go without adding to your game in the modern NBA. Granted, his current game has its place and is fun to watch (check these highlights for confirmation). And there’s something to be said for enhancing ticket sales by having a high-flying dunker on your roster. But the short power forward who can’t even pretend to space the floor is a dying breed in the NBA.
Thus, the Nuggets want to trade him. There are probably a bunch of teams who could use a player like him. Like… I bet the Celtics. The Celtics never dunk the ball; that problem would be solved immediately upon their acquisition of Faried. Also the Mavericks probably. Faried for Powell straight up. Bam. Done. I’m a genius.
