It’s official: we all need to apologize to Mike D’Antoni RIGHT NOW for ever doubting his coaching skills. Give him a superstar point guard, and he’ll give you an offense that can drop 140 points without even trying. He’ll also turn Montrezl Harrell into an offensive stud, right after doing the same with Clint Capela.
I don’t want to diss Montrezl, but I didn’t really think this many points was ever in the cards for him. Even with James Harden running the show. I underestimated two things: Harden’s pick-and-roll passing ability, and Montrezl’s tenacity around the rim.
I wouldn’t want to guard him, that’s for sure. Not when he’s flying around trying to dunk everything that he can, using his freakish wingspan to bamboozle flatfooted defenders. Marreese Speights is made to look like a little child in this vid, while Montrezl plays the part of the big strong paragon of masculinity. Go back to bed, child. Adults are talking.
